Wilson,
WY resident A.A.
Zvegintzov, locally known as
Sandy Z, moved to Jackson Hole over 35 years ago from
Philadelphia,
PA.
He came to the valley as the financial officer of the Jackson
Hole Ski Corp. and then returned to the law and practiced for many
years, both as a private attorney and also as the deputy County
Prosecuting Attorney.
In the midst of single-parenting
his two young sons he started his course of “Downward Mobility” and
became a professional river guide, ski instructor, sailor and, for the
last several years, a full-time artist.
Sandy started art over 20 years ago with
self-instruction. He then took
several
local art classes, eventually went to the
University of
Wyoming art school for a
second bachelor’s degree and now continues his training and education
with regular workshops.
Sandy’s
woodcuts were shown at Trailside Galleries and his oil paintings at
Shadow Mountain Gallery, both in the town of Jackson. He has had five one-man shows and
been in several multi-person shows in the valley.
He has won local and state-wide awards and has taught several Art
Association painting classes.
Sandy’s
focus is the challenge of plein
air (on location) landscape oil painting.
Bad weather or cold winter days
will find him in the studio making larger works from his field
paintings. He finds an
endless variety of subjects, both intimate and grand, right in the
valley and two adjoining National Parks.
Philadelphia
and nearby the countryside are also favorite venues.
In
February, 2008 Sandy ended 30 years of bachelorhood and married Lyudmila
Pozdnyakova from Oryel, Russia.
In October, 2009 they were remarried in Maslovka, Russia in the church
Sandy's great grandfather built for the community.
